TryItCon Community Standards

We want you to have the best time you possibly can at TryItCon. However, if having that fun comes at the cost of someone else’s safety, happiness, or comfort, you must stop. Period. You may find these standards familiar, which is because we borrowed them from Big Bad Con and TAGGS Summit and we give them credit for creating standards we wish to emulate.

Code of Conduct

Despite being an online convention there are still some guidelines we would like you to keep in mind to help make TryItCon a fun and safe environment for everyone. If you have a question about a policy or guideline, please read everything here and contact report@tryitcon.com if you have further questions.

TryItCon asks that you not share any of the invite codes for attendance in events to anyone else. Attendees with purchased badges are expected to individually sign up for sessions.

Event conduct rules extend to content occurring during sessions or event programming as well as any TryItCon organized and presented forums such as Discord servers, Facebook pages, etc.

Session spots are first come, first serve.

Any questions or concerns may be directed to event staff via emails or discord. Complaints will be responded to as soon as they are reported, and a resolution will be sought in as expedient a matter as possible given the nature of the complaint.

Anti-Harassment Policy

TryItCon has zero tolerance for harassment of any kind. If you witness or are targeted by harassment, contact any of the convention staff and it will be dealt with directly.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • stalking
  • intimidation
  • offensive verbal comments
  • physical assault and/or battery
  • harassing or non-consensual photography or recording
  • sustained disruption of games, workshops, or other events
  • unwelcome attention
In relation to, but not limited to:

  • race
  • color
  • national origin or citizenship
  • gender identity or presentation
  • sexual orientation
  • immigration status
  • age
  • body size
  • disability
  • appearance
  • religion
  • pregnancy

To report an incident, email: report@tryitcon.com, use the discord REPORT channel, or speak to any staff member. Include as much detail as you feel comfortable disclosing so we can address the situation immediately and thoroughly.

Anyone can report harassment. If someone’s behavior has made you uncomfortable, or if you witness the same happening to someone else, you should immediately contact TryItCon staff or a volunteer. You may also come to TryItCon’s REPORT discord channel.

Failure to adhere to the community standards may result in:

  1. Mediation by TryItCon staff
  2. Verbal warnings
  3. Revocation of badge and ejection from TryItCon. No refunds will be offered.
  4. Contacting local law enforcement

Our policy applies to EVERYONE at the convention. Exhibitors, attendees, GMs, speakers, guests, staff, and volunteers are all subject to our anti-harassment policy and will be held to the same standards and disciplinary action.

If you are the target of harassment, we will work with you to provide necessary support. We will contact local law enforcement, offer a safe place, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to make sure they feel safe for the rest of TryItCon. If you are in immediate physical danger, get to safety and contact law enforcement FIRST.

We understand that, at times, participants will have disagreements or interpersonal conflicts that do not necessarily escalate to the point of harassment or abuse. TryItCon staff will not arbitrate such disagreements—we ask that you please leave these conflicts at home.

TryItCon staff continuously strive to create a safe and welcoming space. Should you have any suggestions for how we can improve, please email us at report@tryitcon.com.
